DiskStream Demonstrates Capsa Compatibility with Panasonic DVCPRO P2 Camera at NAB 2006; Capsa Automatically Ingests Video from P2, Generates Proxies, Metadata for Powerful Camera-to-Archive Digital Media Workflow

Business Wire, April 24, 2006

LAS VEGAS -- DiskStream Incorporated (http://www.diskstream.com), a provider of innovative media management solutions, announced today that it will demonstrate support for Panasonic's DVCPRO P2 camera with its newly-launched groundbreaking archiving system, Capsa(R) during NAB 2006 this week.

In its booth #SL3030, DiskStream will demonstrate the powerful 'camera-to-archive' digital media workflow for customers looking to embrace tape-less electronic news gathering (ENG) and production environments. DiskStream will show how video files and metadata captured on a DVCPRO P2 camera are transferred to Capsa through a simple drag-and-drop operation and made conveniently available on the network for search, preview and retrieval. Previously, customers had no way to manage this media or make use of metadata generated by the camera, significantly increasing the risk of losing critical footage.

"Solid state cameras such as the Panasonic DVCPRO P2 are key in enabling broadcasters to complete the shift to entirely file-based workflows. However, traditional tape-based methods of managing media no longer apply," said Ian Russell, president of DiskStream. "True tape-less ENG workflows require new systems for properly handling files--media and its associated metadata--and not video tapes. Properly managing this new media is the key to reaping the benefits of a tape-less workflow. Capsa provides a convenient, economical and intelligent nearline 'safe house' for media coming in from the journalists in the field."

In its demonstrations of the DVCPRO P2 support, DiskStream will highlight a number of key features, including the ability to:

--Automatically ingest video files captured on a DVCPRO P2 cardbus card and generate low-resolution proxies for preview.

--Automatically extract and index the associated metadata (e.g. creation date and time, program name, reporter) as supported by the DVCPRO P2 camera, making the clips searchable based on this metadata.

--Seamlessly ingest and associate audio notes recorded in the field using the DVCPRO P2 with the relevant video clips.

--Quickly make media files accessible in nearline storage for convenient network transfer to edit stations and other broadcast systems.

DiskStream made its industry debut this week at NAB 2006 in Las Vegas, where the Company's executive management unveiled Capsa(R), its groundbreaking video archiving solution. Capsa is an economical, turnkey video and future-proof system for file-based archiving of video content including broadcast news, commercials and other programming. Tailored to the needs of small market broadcasters and specialty channels, Capsa dramatically improves access to archived media content and eliminates the high cost, inefficiency and inconvenience inherent in video tape archiving.

Based on industry standards, and providing tools for migration to any future archive platform, Capsa breaks new ground in terms of openness, accessibility and affordability. Capsa innovative features provide a wide range of benefits, such as:

--Open, Low-Cost Storage Options: Drive down costs--leverage today's open and inexpensive storage technologies, including SATA hard drives for nearline archiving, or data DVD for back-up and offline archiving.

--Search and Preview Tools: Streamline access to archived media--locate and retrieve clips and stock footage at your desktop using a Google-like search, preview low-resolution proxies, and restore clips with a single click.

--Flexible Ingest and Metadata Import Tools: Preserve existing archive investments--batch capture existing media and reconcile it automatically with metadata imported from existing databases and news production systems (e.g. ENPS).

--Future-Proof File Formats: Protect your investment going forward--ensure archived media and valuable metadata never become trapped within a proprietary repository--Capsa supports open, industry-standard essence, metadata and container formats.

--Migration Tools and APIs: Tackle obsolescence head on--efficiently export media and metadata from a Capsa archive to a range of open formats, providing a simple migration path to any future archiving platform.

--Metadata Quality-Control: Maximize media value--enforce rules for metadata completeness and consistency, significantly increasing the potential to repurpose assets in the archive.
