Revivio to Integrate IBM Tivoli Continuous Data Protection for Files Into Customer Solutions; Extends Benefits of Enterprise CDP to Critical Corporate Data Residing at Remote Office Locations

Business Wire, April 24, 2006

LEXINGTON, Mass. -- Revivio(R), Inc., a leading provider of data protection and application availability solutions, today announced plans to integrate IBM's Tivoli Continuous Data Protection for Files(TM) with its Continuous Protection System(TM) (CPS). The new combined offering will allow customers to extend the benefits of Revivio's industry leading, enterprise-class continuous data protection (CDP) to data residing at remote office locations.

IBM Tivoli CDP for Files is part of the IBM TotalStorage Open Software family -- IBM's portfolio of storage management and data protection solutions. IBM Tivoli CDP for Files is designed to continuously protect important files at remote offices so that when a file is saved at the remote office, the software can automatically transfer a copy to a centrally located server, which is protected by a Revivio CPS 1200 appliance. Additionally, the CPS appliance can be replicated using Revivio's Replication Module. In this way, an integrated disaster recovery system can be created to help protect not only data housed in the corporate data center, but in remote offices from disaster as well.

Revivio's Application Integration Suite (AIS), powerful new software that helps customers automate data protection and recovery processes -- from nightly backups to full disaster response -- will be extended to automate data protection processes throughout the integrated solution. AIS software provides application-specific automated recovery through tight integration with the Revivio Continuous Protection System (CPS). Application-specific knowledge modules enable automated data protection for a wide variety of applications such as Oracle, Sybase, MS-SQL databases, Microsoft Exchange, and Lotus Notes.

"Data residing at remote locations, on workstations, and even in laptops is notoriously under protected -- even though some experts estimate that it accounts for 60 to 70 percent of all corporate data," said Hershel Harris, vice president, IBM Tivoli Storage and Security. "IBM Tivoli CDP for Files delivers an ideal solution for remote offices, enterprise desktops, and file servers. Combined with Revivio's suite of enterprise-class CDP solutions, customers now have access to a complete, easy to use and affordable solution for data protection and application availability."

"In working with customers to implement CDP-based disaster recovery, it has become clear that remote office data must be included in the overall solution," said Kirby Wadsworth, senior vice president of marketing and business development for Revivio. "This announcement underscores Revivio's commitment to true dynamic data availability. The combined offering of Revivio's CPS and IBM Tivoli CDP for Files will assist our customers in accessing data, as it existed in any previous state, from any desired location...simply, easily and automatically."

Customers and Industry Experts Concur

"I am delighted to learn of this news," said Hal Weiss, systems engineer for Baptist Memorial Healthcare and a Revivio customer. "We have already reaped the tremendous benefits associated with Revivio technology's protection of our critical patient and business information, as well as its ability to keep our applications always available here at the corporate data center. The ability to extend these capabilities to the more than 15 hospitals, an array of home care and hospice agencies, minor medical clinics, behavioral programs, as well as our network of surgical, rehabilitation and other outpatient centers will be monumental."

"Revivio technology has protected our corporate information and kept our applications continuously available, without fail. I have said it before, and I will say it again -- since the Revivio installation I have actually been able to sleep at night," said Manny Singh, director of IT at Prairie Packaging and a Revivio customer. "We are moving into a very busy season for our business as one of the nation's leading suppliers of foam and plastic products such as plates, forks, spoons, and knives. I am very pleased to be able to extend corporate's data protection and application availability capabilities to the field -- including to our sales force, who will be on the road constantly, as well as to our trucks which will be delivering product at an exceedingly escalated rate."

"The ROBO's (remote office/branch office) of most multi-site corporations contain as much, if not more, data than the corporate data centers. The fact that all this critical data has gone unprotected is frightening -- but at least there was a justification -- it just wasn't technically or economically feasible to protect it until recently. That isn't true anymore, and with all the lapses in security around consumer data breaches, intellectual property losses and critical corporate data gone 'missing' this problem needs to be addressed, and addressed now," said Heidi Biggar, senior analyst, data protection, at the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). "I like a deal, such as that between IBM and Revivio, which brings much more granular recovery and protection not only at the local level -- but drastically improves the ROBO data situation at the same time. This is how everyone should be thinking."
