ARUP Laboratories Selects Percussion Software's Rhythmyx for Multi-Site, Multi-Channel ECM Solution; Rhythmyx to Manage Content for Multiple Web Sites and Intranet Across Multiple Delivery Channels for Utah Medical Lab
Business Wire, April 24, 2006
WOBURN, Mass. -- Percussion(R) Software, a leading developer of practical software solutions enabling customers to maximize the value and quality of enterprise content, today announced that ARUP Laboratories, a national clinical and anatomic pathology reference laboratory owned by the University of Utah, has selected Percussion's Rhythmyx Enterprise Content Management System to leverage its content across multiple Web sites. Rhythmyx will deliver content for the organization's three public Internet Web sites, as well as the ARUP internal Intranet site.
ARUP selected Rhythmyx to replace the content management functionality in its homegrown system following a competitive evaluation of content management vendors. Rhythmyx will be implemented as part of a content management upgrade designed to give the organization more robust content delivery for its various publics. Among the major content challenges ARUP will address with its Rhythmyx deployment are:
--Allowing non-technical staff to more easily manage content;
--Enabling content reuse in multiple formats, including Web and print; and,
--Automatically handling content updating.
"As a clinical laboratory, our product is information, and our end-customers are busy physicians," said Brian R. Jackson, M.D., ARUP's Medical Director for Medical Informatics. "Providing physicians with up-to-date information pushes the limits of content delivery. We needed to expand our online content offerings, and at the same time make them more user-friendly and maintainable."
The ease with which Rhythmyx will enable ARUP's content authors to manage and reuse content across multiple channels without IT intervention was a big factor in choosing Rhythmyx. "Depending on the content category, we need to be able to deliver it to print, and potentially multiple Web formats," said Dr. Jackson. "Physicians practice in a variety of settings and tend to have strong personal preferences for which information forms they're willing to access. As a medical content provider, we need to be able to deliver our content in a wide range of platforms and formats to meet their needs."
"As a worldwide leader in innovative laboratory research and development, ARUP Laboratories relies on its multiple Web sites to deliver accurate, up-to-date test results and medical information to its many constituencies," said Percussion Software CEO, Barry Reynolds. "That makes it an ideal fit for Rhythmyx, which is designed to meet the key content management challenges that ARUP faces, including ease of content reuse, scalability and multi-channel delivery across all touch points. We're very pleased to be working with ARUP Laboratories."
