Kalido to Sponsor and Speak at 18Th DAMA International Symposium; Data Warehousing and Information Management Expert from Kalido Highlights Innovative Approaches to Data Modeling and Potential Business Benefits

Business Wire, April 24, 2006

BURLINGTON, Mass. & LONDON -- Kalido, the leading provider of adaptive enterprise data warehousing and master data management software, announced that Andrew Davis, product manager of the KALIDO(R) application suite, will present at the 18th Annual DAMA International Symposium in Denver, Colorado on Thursday, April 27th from 8:30-9:30 am. The presentation will explore how adaptive enterprise data warehousing can improve the quality of data models within IT systems to realize dramatic business benefits. Kalido is also a silver sponsor of the event, which takes place April 23 - 27, 2006.

Entitled "Semantics in Data Warehousing and Integration: Associative Data Modeling and ISO Standards," Davis' talk will highlight how many businesses are constrained, rather than supported, by their information systems. Focused on the underpinning theory behind ISO 18876 and 15926 and how these standards can be used to critique and even design flexible data models, he will explore how innovative technology and project approaches to data modeling have enabled hugely complex organizations to achieve the coveted "single view" of management information and save many millions of dollars.

Ensuring management information remains accurate - however much the business evolves - is one of the biggest challenges facing large enterprises today. Many global organizations struggle to achieve the comprehensive, 360-degree view of their business required to make strategic decisions. With disparate operational systems and business processes scattered across multiple corporate divisions, decision-makers find it difficult not only to reconcile the information, but also to quickly address changing business requirements.

Using several case studies from some of the largest companies in the world, Davis will explain the need to keep business change at the heart of any data warehouse initiative, and how ambitious information management projects can be achieved without the need for operational systems to be standardized.

"Large companies are increasingly burdened by building, operating and maintaining their IT systems, and this is holding them back," commented Andrew Davis. "A major cause is that the quality of the data models implemented in systems and interfaces is poor. KALIDO is able to address this by taking a more business-orientated, flexible approach to data modeling. I'm looking forward to demonstrating how this can be done, and highlighting - using real life examples - how huge business benefits can be achieved."

As a Silver Sponsor of the DAMA Symposium, Kalido will have a strong presence at the event (Booth #115), with both technical and business experts on hand to share their data warehousing and master data management expertise.
