OneShare.com Announces Sale of Pixar Stock to End April 30th; Final Days to Purchase Keepsake Share of One of America's Best-Loved Companies
Business Wire, April 24, 2006
SAN FRANCISCO -- The official Pixar stock certificates that have been in great demand since Disney announced it was buying the company will soon be a thing of the past. With the sale of Pixar to Disney expected to finalize in early May, OneShare.com announced that it will stop selling shares of Pixar stock on April 30th. Since Disney announced the intended purchase, OneShare has seen demand for the Pixar stock certificate soar more than 1,000 percent over one year ago.
Once the sale of Pixar to Disney is complete, Pixar will no longer be able to issue stock certificates, making the certificates themselves collectors' items. "The stocks are decorated with Buzz and Woody, the characters from Pixar's 'Toy Story,' and are like works of art," said Lance Lee, president of OneShare.
When the sale of Pixar, maker of such popular animated films as "Toy Story" and "Finding Nemo," to Disney was announced, OneShare experienced record sales of the stock. "Since the sale was publicized, Pixar stock has been by far our top seller," Lee said. "Many of our customers are buying two or three shares so that they can keep one for themselves and give the other as a gift."
In addition to the sentimental and commemorative value of the stock certificates, after the sale, Pixar shares will become Disney shares and will be worth the current value of Disney stock.
