Business Wire, April 25, 2006
WASHINGTON -- Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP today announced that Alexander J. Hadjis and Richard G. Green have joined the law firm as partners in its Washington, D.C. office, where Hadjis will be the national chair of the patent litigation practice. Hadjis and Green come to Sonnenschein from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where Hadjis was head of that firm's patent litigation practice in Washington, D.C. Ten other professionals, including six additional attorneys, with extensive patent litigation experience are also joining Sonnenschein from Weil.
"Alex is considered to be an outstanding patent trial lawyer and has an amazing track record of successful patent litigations," said Amy Bess, managing partner of Sonnenschein's Washington, D.C. office. "He and Rick have worked together on numerous important cases and they will play a key role in solidifying Sonnenschein's position as a leader in patent litigation. Their knowledge and dynamic experience will benefit our growing roster of patent litigation clients."
Hadjis has served as lead counsel in cases before several federal district courts and the United States International Trade Commission (USITC). In one highly publicized case involving a billion-dollar patent pooling arrangement, he was responsible for successfully employing an antitrust-based patent misuse trial defense against one of the world's biggest electronics companies.
"Sonnenschein is an excellent firm with an outstanding intellectual property group," said Hadjis. "Rick and I are excited to have the opportunity to play a role in enhancing Sonnenschein's patent litigation practice. We, and the other members of the patent litigation team, look forward to working with our colleagues on dynamic cases that span the depth and breadth of client needs. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a full package of professional services. Our team, which has been trial-tested and proven multiple times, not only knows how to effectively prepare and try a case, we have the technical background and proficiency to truly understand complex cases. This helps ensure that clients' cases are properly positioned for trial."
Hadjis's practice focuses on complex patent litigation. He also litigates cases involving the interface between intellectual property and antitrust law, and he has extensive experience litigating cases involving technology standards. Hadjis has litigated patent, antitrust and breach of contract cases that cover the semiconductor, optical storage media, liquid crystal display, telecommunications, electronic systems, computer network, software, xerography, chemical and automotive component industries.
With a J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, an LL.M. degree from George Washington University Law School, and a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University, Hadjis clerked for Judge Wilson Cowen on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trade Office.
Green's practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, including proceedings before U.S. District Courts and the USITC in Section 337 proceedings. Before law school, he was a research associate in the biotechnology field.
Green earned a J.D. degree from George Washington University Law School, where he was articles editor for the George Washington Law Review, and a B.A. degree in biological science from Cornell University. He clerked for Judge Daniel Friedman on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
