Telefonica Leverages ConSentry's Secure LAN Controller to Deliver Managed LAN Services for Leading European Bank; Telefonica Deploys ConSentry for Secure LAN Access Control at Banco Santander

Business Wire, April 3, 2006

MILPITAS, Calif. -- ConSentry Networks, a leading provider of secure LAN solutions, today announced its Secure LAN Controller has been selected by Telefonica to form a major part of its managed LAN solution for Banco Santander, one of Europe's largest financial institutions. Telefonica is leveraging the Secure LAN Controller to deliver comprehensive LAN security services that include network admission control, visibility and auditing, user access control and threat containment, all provided by a single platform that integrates seamlessly with existing LAN infrastructures.

According to Alfredo Villalobos, commercial director of Telefonica International, "Large enterprise customers such as Banco Santander require richer managed service offerings that extend from the perimeter into their LAN environments. With ConSentry's Secure LAN Controller, we have the means to comprehensively deploy user access and application control that denies unauthorized usage without endangering network performance."

As Banco Santander's managed services provider, Telefonica maintains responsibility for managing and monitoring the ConSentry system in order to develop and deliver threat and risk management analysis. By leveraging ConSentry's Insight Command Center to gain unprecedented visibility into layer 2 - 7 network traffic, Telefonica will recommend and refine user and group access control policies that map to Banco Santander's specific security requirements.

"The rapidly growing LAN security issue is creating opportunities for managed services providers that deploy the right skills and solutions approach," said Tom Barsi, ConSentry's CEO. "A partnership with a renowned industry leader like Telefonica is a key enabler in delivering secure LANs quickly to enterprises."
