Hitachi Kokusai Electric Showcases 24GHz Unlicensed Band 150Mbps Point-to-Point System at CTIA WIRELESS 2006; System Enables Wireless Ethernet Applications

LAS VEGAS -- Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc., a global supplier of wireless infrastructure solutions, and Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. today announced that they will showcase Hitachi Kokusai's 24GHz unlicensed band Broadband Wireless Point to Point (P-P) solution at CTIA WIRELESS 2006, the premier event for the global mobile and wireless industry. Nearly 1,000 manufacturers, suppliers, and telecom operators will gather at the Las Vegas Convention Center to exhibit the latest in wireless infrastructure, mobile and wireless devices, wireless services, semiconductors, test and measurement equipment, and consumer and business software applications. Hitachi Group will exhibit in booth No. 5911.

Hitachi Kokusai's 24GHz unlicensed band Broadband Wireless Point to Point (P-P) system operates within the unlicensed radio frequency range of 24.050 - 24.250GHz, ensuring less interference and higher performance for customers' traffic compared to other congested unlicensed bands. Other advantages of the Hitachi Kokusai unit include light weight (6.6 lbs (3 kg)), small plane surface antenna (11.4" x 11.4" (29 cm x 29 cm)), easy installation using the "Ethernet cable connect only" features supported by Power over Ethernet (PoE), and 100BASE-TX Ethernet full duplex connectivity. The system is extremely easy to deploy and manage, with a SNMP network management option.

The Hitachi Kokusai 24GHz unlicensed band Broadband Wireless Point to Point (P-P) system enables in-service wireless Ethernet with innovative adaptive modulation from QPSK, 16QAM to 64QAM, up to 150 Mbps air data rates TDD Point to Point. The system provides 56Mbps throughput for both uplink and downlink operation.

The 24GHz unlicensed band Broadband Wireless Point to Point unit has already been FCC approved, and is installed in a number of customer networks in Japan at 25GHz, which is allocated as an unlicensed frequency band in Japan.
