eMbience Media Platform eMp2 to Deliver Rich Media Over Wireless LANs in Demonstration of Prototype CDMA/Wi-Fi Handsets by Kyocera Wireless Corp.; Demo Available in Kyocera Wireless Booth at CTIA
Business Wire, April 5, 2006
LAS VEGAS -- eMbience, a wireless software producer and publisher, announced today that its media content delivery platform, eMp2, is being used to distribute video over wireless local area networks (LAN) for prototype Wi-Fi/CDMA handsets from Kyocera Wireless Corp. at the CTIA Wireless 2006 show in Las Vegas.
eMp2 bridges the delivery of any form of media content with the latest in wireless technology. Kyocera's prototype CDMA/Wi-Fi device required a solution that captures and delivers video content over wireless LANs, replacing the more traditional OTA (over-the-air) method, resulting in a superior user experience. The eMbience platform will stream and download full videos, movie trailers and songs on the prototype Kyocera handsets.

"Gone are the days when downloading a video on the mobile phone takes as long as playing the video itself," said eMbience CEO, Dr. Nimish Shrivastava. "eMp2 will facilitate the video content reaching the consumer over the Wi-Fi network and we are honored to work with Kyocera on this emerging-technology demonstration."
"Kyocera Wireless is on the leading edge of CDMA/Wi-Fi convergence and eMbience's eMp2 technology is a key part in helping us demonstrate that leadership," said Tom Maguire, vice president of global sales and marketing at Kyocera Wireless Corp. "Along with capacity and coverage benefits offered by CDMA/Wi-Fi convergence, the ability to leverage the speed and bandwidth of Wi-Fi networks for rich media content is tremendously attractive."
eMp2 was designed to put eMbience partners in the driver's seat. Through eMp2, partners have the tools and control to change the look and feel of the multimedia content presentation at any time, once all content assets are in place. Partners can modify the design at the appropriate time to reflect a new identity.
From a design perspective, eMp2 also offers partners cutting-edge options. The eMbience video player featured on Kyocera's prototype handsets showcases a dynamic new user interface.
Live demonstrations of the eMp2 video player and the promise of Wi-Fi/CDMA convergence are available at Kyocera Wireless' booth, #5426 at the Las Vegas Convention Center's North Hall.
