Vocalocity Announces Strategic Licensing Agreement with Microsoft; Brings VoiceXML to the Widely-Adopted Microsoft Speech Server
Business Wire, April 5, 2006
ATLANTA -- Vocalocity, a leading provider of OEM software for standards-based telephony solutions, today announced a long-term licensing agreement with Microsoft Corp. Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will license Vocalocity VoiceXML technology for use in future versions of the Microsoft Speech Server.
The addition of VoiceXML to Microsoft Speech Server 2007, set for release later this year, gives customers open development and speech technology choices for the creation of powerful voice self-service applications.
"Vocalocity is an industry leader, and we felt confident working with them in developing a fully standards-compliant implementation of VoiceXML for Microsoft Speech Server 2007," said Clint Patterson, Director of Product Management for Microsoft Speech Server. "There is no doubt that the inclusion of VoiceXML, alongside our support for SALT, strengthens Microsoft Speech Server's position as the most integrated, flexible and cost-effective IVR platform available."
"Microsoft's adoption of VoiceXML will help advance the standard considerably and accelerate the replacement of legacy boxes with less expensive standards-based software applications that improve information access and deliver better, more cohesive customer care," said Mike Dickerson, CEO of Vocalocity. "The industry is getting closer to the point where speech-enabling enterprise applications is as easy as deploying a web page, and we anticipate the game will change drastically as Microsoft and its partners continue to gain traction in this market."
Vocalocity delivers the world's most widely adopted VoiceXML software. The company is a Sponsor member of the VoiceXML Forum (www.voicexml.org) and its Chief Architect, Ken Rehor, is chairman of the organization.
Microsoft Speech Server provides a single integrated platform with the tools, run-time environment, and core speech and telephony services needed for speech-enabled telephony applications. Microsoft announced earlier today that it is now accepting applications from businesses and individuals to participate in the Microsoft Speech Server 2007 beta program.
