Zix Corporation Partners With Sophos for Enterprise Security and Policy Enforcement; ZixCorp Email Encryption Service Seamlessly Integrates with PureMessage® for Best of Breed Network Protection
Business Wire, August 1, 2006
DALLAS -- Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)) (Nasdaq: ZIXI), the leader in hosted services for email encryption and e-prescribing, today announced a technology alliance with Sophos to provide an industry-leading platform for enterprise-class security and policy enforcement, as well as powerful encryption capabilities to secure confidential emails.
The ZixCorp email encryption service automatically encrypts outbound messages according to compliance policy and securely delivers email to the recipient as PureMessage(R) scans and protects emails entering and leaving the network.
"Sophos has been a long-standing player in the security arena, and certainly sees the importance of data encryption," said Richard Jacobs, Chief Technology Officer for Sophos. "Partnering with ZixCorp allows us to combine our strengths at the email gateway to provide a high level of security and policy enforcement, creating a robust security offering."
For outbound messages, PureMessage scans, protects and logs all inbound and outbound email traffic, preventing email-borne threats such as spam, viruses, Trojans, worms and spyware. PureMessage can use the same procedure to determine which messages should or should not be encrypted by ZixCorp's email encryption service. The policies that determine encryption are controlled by the organization's administrator, eliminating the risks associated with user decisions, while making the process entirely transparent to users.
"As the largest email encryption service provider, ZixCorp continues to align with strategic partners that bring value to our current and future network of users," said Rick Spurr, chief executive officer for ZixCorp. "Partnering with a leading security vendor such as Sophos, allows us to provide top tier offerings to users."
As the leading email encryption provider with five million protected email recipients, ZixCorp's vast network allows seamless encrypted email delivery to healthcare organizations, insurers, financial institutions and regulators, including four of the five banking regulatory agencies. ZixCorp supports five encrypted email delivery mechanisms including S/MIME, TLS, OpenPGP, secure portal and "push" delivery.
