Saddam Silenced on MySpace.com: 'A Place for Friends' is Anything but as Online Site Boots Saddam from Touting Book, ``National Lampoon The Saddam Dump: Saddam Hussein's Trial Blog''

Business Wire, August 15, 2006

LOS ANGELES -- Saddam Hussein has been censored from the popular online web site MySpace.com for allegedly touting his much publicized book "National Lampoon The Saddam Dump: Saddam Hussein's Trial Blog." Today, Saddam's page on MySpace is eerily devoid of the whimsical photos that adorned his much-visited site including those of him enjoying a raucous keg party, shots of his new tattoo, pics with celebs Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Kato Kaelin of O.J. Simpson fame. Apparently, it was photos of Saddam with the omnipresent 'Tom' and the deposed leader hawking his book in front of Wal-Mart that raised the ire of MySpace honchos and forced the eviction.

The recently published book from National Lampoon Press offers Saddam's opinions on the trial of the century and addresses everything from heckling as a workable defense strategy to palace makeover tips and proper attire for the Iraqi court.

National Lampoon employees and co-founders of 'Bloggers without Borders,' Scott Rubin and MoDMaN, assisted the bearded one in chronicling his life behind bars for "The Saddam Dump," and expressed great dismay at the untimely departure of the former Iraqi leader from MySpace. "Saddam had about 1500 friends on MySpace before his untimely demise including 3 George Bushes, one Satan and a myriad of celebrities," stated MoDMaN. "He and `The Saddam Dump' certainly had quite a cult following."

"It's censorship plain and simple," added Rubin. "MySpace may have won the battle but we'll win the war. I encourage believers in free speech to immediately show their support by purchasing a copy of `The Saddam Dump' at http://saddamdump.com. Let freedom reign."

"National Lampoon The Saddam Dump: Saddam Hussein's Trial Blog" is available in bookstores across the county and online at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com but not MySpace.com. At least not any more.
