Apani Networks Releases EpiForce™ Version 2.2; Sets New Benchmarks for Security Inside the Perimeter; Apani Continues to Set the Standard for Enterprise Security with EpiForce 2.2

Business Wire, August 2, 2006

BREA, Calif. -- Apani Networks, the leading enterprise data protection software provider focused on securing inside the network perimeter, today announced the release of EpiForce Version 2.2. Available immediately, EpiForce 2.2 supports over 200,000 networked systems and enforces up to four million security policy relationships, all through an easily managed centralized administration console.

In addition to doubling the scalability of prior versions, the upgraded EpiForce now provides support for Oracle 10G, the de-facto standard database for large enterprises. Apani has also added support for Red Hat Linux version 6.2 and 7.3, as well as Windows Terminal Server, all commonly used in large distributed network environments.

"There are several point solutions that address segments of security inside the network perimeter, but none that are as comprehensive or scalable for large enterprise circumstances as EpiForce," said Michael Suby, Research Program Director at Stratecast Partners (a Division of Frost & Sullivan). "We advise organizations that are serious, and most should be, about security and control of their LAN communications to thoroughly evaluate the EpiForce solution."

"EpiForce 2.2 represents a new benchmark standard for enterprise data protection inside the perimeter, providing the unique capability to dynamically segment networks by application, creating and securing the closed user communities so necessary for compliance, " said David M. Lynch, vice president of worldwide marketing, Apani Networks. "This is just one more step in our ongoing development of EpiForce, providing continual improvements in functionality, scalability and management, and placing Apani well ahead of any competition."

EpiForce, the industry standard for security inside the network perimeter, has been installed in commercial banking institutions, state government technology departments, as well as networks that serve healthcare and higher education.

About EpiForce(TM)

Apani EpiForce is an enterprise data protection product that secures inside the network perimeter. Managed centrally, EpiForce secures data in motion and protects data at rest, allowing organizations to implement application-based network segmentation, creating closed user groups, without modifying the network. Data protection is enforced through strong authentication, authorization and access control at the host level, as well as end-to-end encryption of data in motion, as needed.

Designed for large distributed environments, EpiForce is self-provisioning and capable of securing 200,000 servers and PCs in mixed OS platform environments. Operating at the network layer, EpiForce is transparent to applications and end-users, eliminating the need for costly application revisions or end-user training. And, by automatically enforcing security relationships and reporting on attempted unauthorized activity, EpiForce can reduce the overall cost of security and compliance audits.
