Companion Technologies Releases ASP Version of Practice Management Software

Business Wire, August 22, 2006

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Companion Technologies has developed and released an ASP version of its popular Companion PM medical practice management software, offering physician organizations an affordable alternative for investing in practice management technology.

The Application Service Provider (ASP) version of Companion PM is designed especially for small physician practices looking to avoid the initial hardware investment and other costs involved in purchasing a traditional practice management system. Using ASP technology, Companion Technologies hosts the Companion PM software on its own servers, and physician practices access the system over a secure Internet connection. The practices do not need to buy and maintain their own servers, budget for eventual software upgrades, or have information technology expertise.

"The ASP version is ideal for practices that want to increase efficiency and cash flow without some of the up-front costs," said Cathy Huddle, Companion Technologies' vice president of sales and marketing for Companion PM. "Training, setup, project management and technical support are all included, so a practice can get up and running quickly for a small initial investment and a monthly, per user fee."

Companion PM is a fully integrated practice management software system that features appointment scheduling; electronic filing of insurance claims; claims editing to reduce denials; accounts receivable/billing and advanced collections; patient recall; and generation of standard and ad hoc reports.

Companion PM's browser look and feel have made it a popular choice for ease of use and a low training curve. Distinguishing characteristics include its scalability and modular design, which allow Companion Technologies to tailor the software to a practice's needs. Companion PM also uses tools that are SQL, HL7 and ODBC compliant, giving it a flexible system architecture.

Based in Columbia, S.C., Companion Technologies (www.companiontechnologies.com) develops medical practice management, electronic medical records and claims management software for physician organizations, and revenue cycle management software and electronic data interchange services for hospitals. Companion Technologies also provides computer hardware and network services.
