Growth & Income - GATX Corporation (NYSE:GMT)
GATX Corporation exceeded analysts' earnings expectations in 15 out of the past 16 quarters, including the last 14 straight. The company upped its 2006 earnings per share guidance after reporting solid second-quarter results. Consensus estimates have been trending higher for both 2006 and 2007. GMT has a current dividend yield of 2.3% and has consistently paid dividends to its shareholder base every quarter since 1919.
Momentum - Corn Products International, Inc. (NYSE:CPO)
Corn Products International, Inc. reported a 14% positive earnings surprise on Jul 25 with second quarter earnings of 40 cents per share, up from last year's 35 cents. The consensus estimate called for a flat quarter with earnings of 35 cents. CPO gapped higher on the morning after the earnings announcement and closed up 7.1% at $31.15. Most recently, CPO made a new 52-week high on Thursday with heavy volume.
Value - Arkansas Best Corporation (Nasdaq:ABFS)
Arkansas Best Corporation, a Zacks #1 Rank stock, exceeded analysts' earnings estimates in three out of the past four quarters, most recently by 15.3% in the second quarter of 2006. Management at ABFS has returned value to shareholders through both share buybacks and dividend payments. The company has a price-to-book ratio of 1.9, compared to 5.1 for the market.
