Juniper Networks SSG 550 and NetScreen-5GT Win IPSec VPN Test; Combined Offering Awarded ''Editor's Choice'' by China NetworkWorld
Business Wire, August 29, 2006
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) today announced that its Secure Services Gateway 550 (SSG 550) and NetScreen-5GT firewall/VPN security appliances have won the "Editor's Choice" award from China NetworkWorld in its "2006 IPSec VPN Public Comparison Test."
The publication recognized the combined solution's scalability, performance and comprehensive security features, including its suite of security management tools. The test, carried out in the magazine's Beijing lab and published in July, examined IPSec/VPN product combinations aimed at the central and branch office sites of distributed enterprises. It compared the security capabilities, management software and price of combined offerings from six IPSec VPN vendors, with the SSG 550 and NetScreen-5GT combination ranking the highest.
"Juniper's product package of the SSG 550 and NetScreen-5GT was the best combination identified by our testing model," said Yu Yang, testing engineer of China NetworkWorld in the report.
"It brings high-level security with deep intrusion detection and prevention, modular design, scalability for both performance and functionality, and proper security management design and tools. The Juniper product package provides a comprehensive solution that protects against networks threats from the network-layer to the application-layer. With its excellent performance, this combination wins China NetworkWorld's prestigious Editor's Choice award."
The Juniper Networks Secure Services Gateway 550 represents a new class of purpose-built security appliances that delivers a perfect mix of performance, security and LAN/WAN connectivity for regional and branch office deployments. It can deliver over one gigabit-per-second (Gbps) firewall and 500 megabits-per-second (Mbps) VPN throughput, and is now available with a complete set of Unified Threat Management (UTM) security features including optional intrusion prevention, Web Filtering, Antivirus and Anti-Spam capabilities to protect customers from internal LAN and external WAN-based security threats. The Secure Services Gateways provide industry-leading performance with concurrent firewall/VPN and content security processing to meet the requirements of broadband connected branch offices.
The NetScreen-5GT appliance integrates a complete set of best-in-class UTM security features to secure a small remote office, retail outlet or broadband telecommuter. These UTM features include a stateful inspection firewall to perform access control and stop network-level attacks, an IPS (Deep Inspection firewall) to stop application-level attacks, optional best-in-class Antivirus features (including protection against phishing, spyware, adware, viruses and trojans), Denial of Service (DoS) mitigation capabilities and a Web Filtering option to block access to known malicious download sites or other inappropriate Web content. The NetScreen-5GT also has site-to-site IPSec VPN functionality to establish secure communications between offices, as well as VoIP security features.
"We're honored to receive the prestigious 'Editor's Choice' award from China NetworkWorld," said Eric Yu, vice president of Greater China for Juniper Networks. "This award addresses a clear need for highly secure branch networking in the Chinese market, and again independently substantiates Juniper's technology leadership for branch offices, network-intensive businesses and service providers."
