Prestigious J.D. Power and Associates Founder's Award Presented to MidAmerican Energy Company
Business Wire, Dec 1, 2006
DES MOINES, Iowa -- For only the second time, a utility company has received the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates Founder's Award.
Last night, J.D. Power III presented the Founder's Award to MidAmerican Energy Company at the Platts 2006 Global Energy Awards in New York City. The Founder's Award is a discretionary award presented by J.D. Power and Associates to individuals or organizations that demonstrate exemplary performance in customer satisfaction or other related fields.
"This recognition is based on MidAmerican Energy Company's dedication, commitment and sustained improvement in serving customers during the eight years that J.D. Power and Associates has been surveying the utility industry," said J.D. Power III.
In its 38-year history, this is the 16th time a discretionary award has been presented by J.D. Power and Associates. MidAmerican Energy is the fourth company to be honored outside the automotive industry.
"This honor belongs to MidAmerican Energy's employees. They embody the company's motto of obsessively, relentlessly at your service every day," said David Graham, vice president of quality assurance, who accepted the award on behalf of MidAmerican Energy. "We are on a journey of continuous customer satisfaction improvement, and this honor is another indication that we're doing a good job of meeting the energy needs of the 1.3 million customers we are privileged to serve."
MidAmerican Energy customers have not experienced an electric rate increase since 1995, and the company has promised not to raise electric rates - the cost per kilowatt-hour of electricity customers use - through at least 2010.
MidAmerican Energy Company, Iowa's largest energy company, provides electric service to 706,000 customers and natural gas service to 687,000 customers in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and South Dakota. It is headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa. Information about MidAmerican is available on the Internet at www.midamericanenergy.com.
