Joint Customer, International Law Firm Maples & Calder, Expedites Global Data Replication
ROSELAND, N.J. -- Expand Networks (www.expand.com), a leading provider of application acceleration solutions over the WAN, and recently positioned in the Gartner's Leaders Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers 2006, today announced an alliance with Double-Take[R] Software (NASDAQ: DBTK) www.doubletake.com, a provider of accessible and affordable continuous data replication solutions for disaster recovery, high availability and centralized backup. The joint alliance will address the rapidly growing demand for providing continuous data replication between headquarters and remote branch locations.
"Disaster recovery plans are mandatory for companies whose data is business-critical," said Lauren Whitehouse, analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group. "Organizations must have a rock-solid recovery and replication plan in place. It must be part of the IT DNA and not just viewed as a fancy option."
Double-Take, from Double-Take Software, provides continuous replication of changes to business-critical data residing on the Microsoft Windows[TM] platform. It allows for the complete recovery of any Microsoft Windows application and all the associated data within minutes. This is done by combining continuous real-time data replication and automatic failover capabilities for disaster recovery, high availability and centralized backup. Double-Take is the solution of choice for both protecting and recovering applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and many others.
Through the Expand Compass Platform, which tightly integrates multiple technologies and maps them to the business mandates such as Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, effective and affordable continuous real-time backup and automatic failover of critical data for remote offices is realized. Companies using the Expand Compass have seen tremendous reductions in data replication time in many cases dropping from hours to minutes or even real time. Compass not only provides for acceleration of the data replication process but also significant bandwidth optimization reducing the need for costly bandwidth upgrades.
"To maintain budget and resource efficiencies, many companies are looking for disaster recovery and application availability solutions which are cost effective and leverage their existing infrastructure and IT investments," said Bob Roudebush, Director of Solutions Engineering, Double-Take. "Double-Take provides the most efficient method of data replication available by sending only byte-level changes to protected files. By leveraging the Compass Platform with our replication technology, customers can realize even better replication performance and overcome latency and throughput restrictions without investing more budget dollars in additional bandwidth."
Maples and Calder, an international law firm turned to the Expand - Double-Take alliance to fulfill their goal of implementing a solid data replication and disaster recovery program.
"Continuous data replication is critical to ensure the most accurate data is available to our off-shore sites for the well running of the business," said Matt Barnet, Infrastructure Manager, Maples and Calder. "Since deploying the joint solution of Compass with Double-Take, bandwidth improvement exceeded 300% due to the compression capabilities and the acceleration has been a revelation with peaks of over 1500%. This solution just works. We've seen close to a staggering 50Mbps of Double-Take traffic over the same 4Mbps link. The data replication process is now completed almost in real time compared to the 8-10 hour delay we had previously."
"Regardless of industry - or business specialization, it is important for an organization to have a plan to safeguard against data loss and disaster mitigation," said Christopher K. Williams, Chief Marketing and Channels Officer, Expand Networks. "Through this alliance, Double-Take Software and Expand Networks are aligning our signature technologies to deliver a compelling disaster recovery solution that brings data delivery and replication to the next level. Real time continuous data protection is thus realized from the start."
