RS Information Systems Names Kirk Herdman to Head Defense Programs

MCLEAN, Va. -- Kirk Herdman has been named senior vice president of the Defense Programs Division at RS Information Systems, Inc.
Herdman assumes leadership of a division with a portfolio of customers that includes the Space Information and Development Center in Colorado Springs; Air Force Materiel Command in Dayton, Ohio; Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and Office of Naval Research, both in Arlington, Va., and other military installations throughout the United States.
"Kirk understands the critical technology needs of military clients and has a record of accomplishment in meeting those needs," said Ron Trowbridge, RSIS Executive Vice President. "His leadership ensures that our defense clients will continue to receive the quality of operational performance on which RSIS has built its reputation."
At RSIS, Herdman has been vice president of the Defense Programs Division's Washington Region Programs. Before joining RSIS last year, he was business development vice president for Gray Hawk Systems, Inc. before it was acquired by ManTech International.
Previously, he was business development vice president at General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, responsible for over $1 billion in new business bookings including the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) information assurance prime contract. He was also sales and marketing vice president for Veridian Applied Technology Group and program development director for Veridian Engineering's San Diego office.
Herdman has a B.S. in applied mathematics from Virginia Tech University and is a graduate of the University of Virginia's Darden Business School executive training program on leadership. He has completed graduate course work in communications and electrical engineering at George Washington University. He and his wife have three 3 children.
Ranked among the 50 largest federal technology services contractors nationwide by Washington Technology, RSIS holds nearly 100 federal prime contracts.
