Axis Introduces Megapixel Day/Night Network Camera for Professional Surveillance
Business Wire, Dec 20, 2006
CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, launched today the company's first two-megapixel network camera designed for professional security and surveillance applications. The AXIS 223M Network Camera provides exceptional image detail in day or night lighting conditions. This makes it suitable for securing facilities such as banks and airports, or for use in public safety or traffic monitoring applications.
The AXIS 223M delivers four times better resolution than the best analog cameras. It can be configured to provide lower resolution and frame rate to ensure flexibility in terms of image quality and bandwidth usage.
"As Axis' first professional-level megapixel camera, the AXIS 223M allows users to capture increased detail in highly secure environments," said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager of Axis Communications. "Its combination of features - including resolution, lens, and day/night functionality - are not currently found in competitive offerings, which makes it one of the best quality network cameras on the market today."
Important features on the AXIS 223M include:
* A 2.0 megapixel progressive scan CCD sensor
* A high quality megapixel varifocal lens and advanced image processing for crisp, digital images of moving objects
* Day/night functionality with an automatically removable infrared (IR) cut filter to generate color video in high and low light conditions, and IR-sensitive, black and white video at night
* Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af), which lowers installation costs by eliminating the need for a power outlet and enables the power source to be consolidated to a central location
* Video motion and audio detection
* Two-way audio support
* Network security protocol HTTPS to provide a secure channel between the camera and user; IEEE 802.1X support, which allows the camera to connect to a network secured with port-based authentication
* Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) support
The AXIS 223M is supported by the industry's largest base of application software through the Axis Application Development Partner program, as well as the AXIS Camera Station video management software. It will be available in January through Axis' distribution channels for the manufacturer's suggested price of $1,399.
