Former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating Named Advisory Director for Stewart Information Services Corp
Business Wire, Dec 4, 2006
HOUSTON -- Stewart Information Services Corp. (Stewart) has named former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating as an advisory director.
Keating currently serves as president and chief executive officer of the American Council of Life Insurers, the trade association for the life insurance and retirement security industry. He took the position in January 2003 after serving two terms as Oklahoma's 25th governor.
"I have had the privilege to know Frank for 15 years and have always been impressed with his commitment to both integrity and to all he puts his hand to," said Malcolm Morris, Stewart chairman and co-chief executive officer. "Frank's expertise and guidance will be a real asset to Stewart."
Keating won national acclaim in 1995 for his compassionate and professional handling of the Oklahoma City bombing. In the aftermath of the destruction of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal building, Keating raised more than $6 million to fund scholarships for the nearly 200 children left with only one or no parents. He was only the second governor in Oklahoma history to serve two consecutive terms, and was successful in accomplishing education reform, major road construction projects, tort reform, tax cuts and right-to-work legislation.
Keating won the governor's race in 1994 after a 30-year career in law enforcement and public service as an FBI agent, U.S. Attorney and state prosecutor, and Oklahoma House and Senate member. He served Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush at the U.S. Treasury, Department of Justice and as general counsel of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Keating holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a law degree from the University of Oklahoma. He also serves on the boards of the National Archives Foundation and Mt. Vernon, and is president of the Federal City Council. Keating is seen frequently on the Fox News Channel as a commentator on a wide variety of topics.
