EZD Ltd. Selects Savvion for Process Improvement Across the Supply Chain
Business Wire, Dec 5, 2006
Leader in Financial Logistics Turns to Savvion to Support Risk Management System
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Savvion([R]), the industry's leading business process management (BPM) company, announced today that EZD Global, a leader in supply chain finance solutions, has selected Savvion BusinessManager[TM] to effectively manage the process of monitoring shipments door-to-door. EZD Ltd. will also rely on Savvion to provide improved visibility and coordination of the finance, credit, and collection services associated with the importing and exporting of products. Specifically, Savvion will support the company's d.risk[TM] system, a risk management system that identifies and manages key financial and logistics data on a real time basis as it tracks the flow of goods and finances.
The global trade of manufactured goods, automotive products, textiles, and clothing is estimated to be in excess of $8 trillion per year. However, the manufacturing and selling of goods is only one step in the complex trading process to convert inventory into cash flow. With Savvion as the process backbone, EZD's d.risk system will proactively manage both the movement of cargo and finance, resulting in reduced risk and enhanced profitability for all parties involved in global trade.
Given the nature of logistics, it is inevitable that unpredictable events arise that disturb the flow and potentially impact the integrity of transactions. In extreme cases, it may threaten the continued commercial relationship between vendor and buyer. With Savvion BusinessManager, unplanned events across the supply chain will be identified early, and where possible, corrected. Savvion BusinessManager will also allow the events to be interpreted and the potential consequences and remedial actions assessed immediately. EZD's relationship with the customers and logistics partners will then enable appropriate corrective actions to be taken to minimize the financial consequences and risk arising from such events.
"The essential function of the d.risk platform is to enable EZD operations to monitor and supervise the performance of the sales and delivery processes to ensure compliance and provide visibility on the status to financial partners," said Malcolm Fleet, head of operational management
and development, EZD Global. "We selected Savvion BusinessManager because we believe Savvion is the perfect fit for d.risk, which is mission critical for EZD Global and its customers."
"Any organization dealing with shipping and transportation is inherently a process-centric industry," said Patrick Morrissey, senior vice president of marketing and business development, Savvion. "A variety of steps goes into both the shipment and financial arrangements. We are pleased EZD Global turned to Savvion for its business process management needs with the ultimate goal being to better manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, and speed supply chain management."
About EZD
Manufacturers and shippers involved in international trade are constantly looking for new ways to manage the "cost versus service" dilemma. When supply chain management is put under the microscope, established thinking focuses on two major components, inventory and information. The inevitable conclusions are, of course, that reducing inventory will reduce cost, and that improving information flow will improve service. By defining the problem in this way, it is not difficult to understand why participants overlook the more interesting and value creating solution. It is only by understanding the processes involved in both the movement of and finance for goods in transit, and the risks inherent at every stage, that one can begin to create a process that makes use of available information to produce an integrated, risk managed solution.
In 2001, EZD was established and determined that a significant and usually unfilled customer need was export finance. Critically, and only as a direct result of dealing with the three-flow definition of supply chain management, (logistics, finance and information) were we able to identify how to create fundamental improvements to the international trading process. Working with its financial and logistics partners EZD provides an innovative integrated logistics and supply chain finance solution for business-to-business trading and is now owned by its employees and private investors.
