In-Store Clinic Changes Name to Better Explain its Healthcare Focus

DALLAS -- MedXpress, Inc. today announced that it will change its name to MedBasics, Inc. according to its CEO and Chairman Brian Jones.

According to Jones, MedBasics better reflects the high quality basic healthcare its clinics provide. "The word 'express' identifies our clinics as just being fast," said Jones. "While the services that we provide are convenient, our customers come to us first and foremost to receive high quality basic healthcare."

MedBasics, Inc. operates retail health clinics, or in-store clinics that provide flat-fee care for a variety of routine, non-urgent medical services including physical exams, immunizations, flu shots and treatment of common illnesses such as allergies, bladder infections, bronchitis, ear and sinus infections, fever and strep throat. The charge for most services is $49.

"MedBasics will continue to provide customers with a fast, easy way to access quality basic medical services, even when their own doctor's offices are closed, or a costly trip to a hospital emergency room seems their only option," Jones noted.

MedBasics first clinic opened August 30 in a new Carnival Super Store in Dallas. It was the first of what will be 25 such clinics that MedBasics will open in stores owned by Minyard Food Stores, Inc. over the next three years. Minyard operates under the Minyard, Carnival and Sack N Save banners throughout the Dallas area.

The second clinic is scheduled to open later this month. MedBasics plans to open 25 clinics in Minyard stores and expects to have 500 clinics open nationwide by 2010.
