Veteran Entrepreneurs Bring Exceptional Records of Success to INTENT as Company Expands Impact in Digital Entertainment Market
ATLANTA -- INTENT MediaWorks, the leading provider of technology for the distribution of licensed digital media content and advertising via the Internet, today announced the appointments of Gregg Freishtat as chairman and Neal McEwen as executive vice president and chief financial officer. INTENT's pioneering technology enables the legal, profitable and consumer friendly distribution of licensed digital entertainment and advertising via the Internet and P2P file trading systems.
"INTENT is fortunate to have these two highly talented business leaders on its team," said Les Ottolenghi, CEO of INTENT MediaWorks. "Over the years, Gregg and Neal have combined to lead a number of start-ups to tremendous success. Combining a world-class management team with ground breaking technology, INTENT is poised to make a significant impact in the digital entertainment market."
Freishtat has previously founded three companies and led all of them through acquisitions by publicly traded companies. He was chairman and CEO of Proficient Systems from January of 2001 until it was acquired by LivePerson (NASDAQ: LPSN) in June of 2006. Prior to that, Freishtat founded and served as CEO of VerticalOne Corporation, which was acquired by S1 Corporation (NASDAQ: SONE) in November 1999. He also started Telet, Inc., which was sold to Premiere Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTEK) in 1996. Freishtat is an active private equity investor and has served on many private company boards. He received an undergraduate degree from Boston University and was awarded his JD from the University of Maryland School of Law.
"INTENT has the opportunity to make an extraordinary impact on the entertainment industry," said Freishtat. "Content providers and advertisers have agonized over how to distribute digital music and video in a way that consumers will accept. INTENT's award-winning technology and consumer-friendly method of distributing licensed content will finally unlock the revenue potential from the massive digital entertainment marketplace."
During the past twenty five years, Neal McEwen has served in senior executive positions with several leading technology companies. Most recently, he was CFO of Proficient Systems until its sale to LivePerson (NASDAQ: LPSN) in June of 2006. McEwen has also served as CFO of Pathfire, Inc.; was a co-founder and CFO of VerticalOne Corporation through its acquisition by S1 Corporation; served as the CFO of Peachtree Software until its acquisition in 1994 by ADP; and served as president of a subsidiary of Intelligent Systems Corporation in 1997 and 1998. As a Certified Public Accountant, he held a variety of positions for many years with Arthur Young & Company (now known as Ernst & Young LLP), including the position of Director of Entrepreneurial Services where he directed the firm's resources dedicated to technology and other emerging market segments. McEwen holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
"INTENT's technology represents the most cost effective distribution channel for digital entertainment and advertising," said McEwen. "By putting licensed music and video in front of the millions of people using open P2P applications, web sites, blogs and social network sites, INTENT enables content providers and advertisers to take advantage of new business models and prosper in the burgeoning market for digital entertainment."
