NetworkStreaming Taps Network Engines to Manufacture the Only Appliance for Remote Support Software; Trend toward Appliances Fuels Search for Top Manufacturer
Business Wire, Feb 1, 2006
RIDGELAND, Miss. -- NetworkStreaming, Inc., a leading provider of appliance-based remote support software, announced today that it has partnered with Network Engines to deliver SupportDesk in a best-in-class software appliance. NetworkStreaming's SupportDesk on the remote support appliance is the only self-hosted device available offering direct control and management of remote PC support. The company chose to partner with Network Engines because of their leadership in building appliances that are easy to deploy, manage and increase security.
Adoption of software delivered in an appliance is increasing through all industries as companies look to manage more applications on-site - both to avoid potential liability and to lower overall costs. Appliance-based software such NetworkStreaming's SupportDesk, offers significant benefits to enterprises required to comply with corporate governance mandates and regulations, such as HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley. When a company hosts the appliance on-site in their own environment, they eliminate the need to ensure that their third-party providers are meeting the same compliance mandates. In addition, an appliance with embedded software offers enterprise users a lower total cost of ownership, compared to the ongoing subscription fees for software from an Application Service Provider (ASP).
"Our customers needed a solution that allowed them to easily connect to disparate users - while keeping costs low. Further, recent mandates dictate that these solutions also meet corporate governance guidelines for logging and reporting, as well as ensuring data integrity," said Joel Bomgaars, founder & CEO of NetworkStreaming. "Delivering SupportDesk in an appliance was a logical choice. Network Engines' understanding and commitment to this market makes them the appliance partner of choice for software market leaders. Their heritage in providing appliance technology ensures our customers a quality product."
NetworkStreaming's SupportDesk allows support professionals to connect remotely to staff and clients via a secure Web address. The software does not require end user pre-installation or configuration and it connects to any PC anywhere in the world in less than 10 seconds - even through corporate firewalls. Compared with its competitors' service provider offerings, SupportDesk provides support professionals with the security of an in-house solution, as well as a lower total cost of ownership. The appliance-based delivery also offers easier integration with existing infrastructure and the ability to scale quickly to meet business needs.
"As a provider of healthcare software, we have to ensure that we comply with HIPAA guidelines for data security. NetworkStreaming's SupportDesk allows us to provide technical support and assistance to our users without having to worry about where the information is routed -and if our service providers comply with our security guidelines," said Malcolm Hooper operations manager for Physician Micro Systems. "We have also found that the appliance provides us with significant cost savings over paying for a monthly application service provider. It was surprisingly easy to setup and its easy to manage within our existing infrastructure."
