Terrible Towels, HDTVs, Game Tickets Among Hot Big Game Related Items on eBay; Pittsburgh's Roethlisberger Trumps Seattle's Alexander As Most Popular Big Game Player Based on eBay Items Sold

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- With the Big Game just five days away, the hunt for coveted Terrible Towels, player memorabilia and game tickets has reached a fever pitch on eBay. Below is a look at key trends across eBay over the past several weeks:

Tickets

--Over the past two weeks, more than 800 Big Game ticket listings (which include various quantities of tickets) have successfully closed on eBay. Average price for a pair of tickets has hovered around $5,200 ($2,600 per ticket) while a set of four has averaged about $11,000 (nearly $2,750 per ticket)

--While on a steady rise, Tues, Jan. 31 was the biggest single day of successful ticket listings with nearly 100 sets sold on the site.

Memorabilia

--In the past two weeks, more than 11,000 Big Game items have been sold at an average price of $64. The search term "super bowl" returns 10,000 related listings currently available on the marketplace

--Over 3,300 Terrible Towels, Pittsburgh fans' swinging sensation, have flown off eBay's virtual shelves over the past two weeks. Average selling price has been $15. Listings are receiving an average of 24 bids per item, demand comparable to Apple iPod nanos on eBay during the holidays.

--Biggest Terrible Towel sales day: Sunday, Jan. 22 (524 sold).

HD and Plasma TVs

--In the past two weeks, more than 1,050 HD and Plasma TVs have sold on eBay at an average price of over $1,000

--Peak sales took place around the Conference Championship weekend (Friday-Monday) when over 400 HD and Plasma TVs sold

Top Selling Player Items

--Ben Roethlisberger -- More than 26,000 items have been sold in the past three months -- over a third in the past two weeks

--Shaun Alexander -- 12,000 items have been sold in the past three months with more than half selling during the past two weeks

--Jerome Bettis -- 9,000 items have been sold in the past three months with half selling during the past two weeks

--Matt Hasselbeck -- 2,300 items have been sold in the past three months with more than half (1,200) selling in the past two weeks
