OZ to Deploy Mobile IM Client for Telefonica Moviles Espana; OZ IMPS Client to Provide Telefonica Moviles Users in Spain with a Rich Mobile IM Messaging Experience
Business Wire, Feb 13, 2006
BARCELONA, Spain -- OZ, the leading mobile messaging solution provider, today announced that Telefonica Moviles Espana has chosen the OZ IMPS Client to power their operator branded mobile instant messaging (IM) service. Offered under the 'movistar' brand, the OZ Client will work along with Colibria's IM and Presence Server to provide Telefonica Moviles subscribers in Spain, with the ability to stay connected in real-time with their contacts while they are on-the-go. Telefonica Moviles Espana will deploy this new service in Q2/2006; as a result, Telefonica expects to gain a competitive advantage by providing its subscribers in Spain, with another advanced mobile messaging option to stay connected.
Instant messaging continues to be one of the most popular methods of mobile communications; analyst group Forrester expects mobile IM to reach 44.68 billion messages a year by 2010(1). With a large number of Telefonica Moviles Espana subscribers already using their mobile phone for messaging, the OZ Mobile IMPS Client provides end-users with the benefit of being able to immediately be in touch with their online contacts.
"OZ is steadfast in providing mobile operators and handset manufacturers the ability to deliver to the mass market user-friendly and intuitive mobile messaging solutions," said Skuli Mogensen CEO & Founder of OZ. "As we continue to deliver world-class mobile IM and Email solutions to the world's largest mobile operators, Telefonica Moviles decision to enlist OZ in deploying their solution further validates our technology prowess, and our commitment to rapidly deliver mobile messaging solutions that meet the needs of our customers."
About the OZ Mobile IMPS Client and Server
The OZ Mobile IMPS Client delivers branded user interfaces that reflect the operator-owned mobile IMPS community. When embedded or pre-loaded into devices, the Client offers operators a quick and easy service roll-out that encourages service adoption. Alternatively, with downloadable clients, mobile operators can offer their existing subscriber base immediate access to their IM accounts on their mobile phone.
The OZ Mobile IMPS Server is the most fully featured server to be officially tested and certified compliant to the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) specifications
for IMPS. It enables mobile operators to build their own mobile IM communities and immediately capitalize on the market opportunity of mobile IMPS services. Additionally, the OZ IMPS Server allows operators to easily integrate IMPS services with other mobility services. It provides support for all the bearers, encodings and communications initiation request channels mandated by the OMS IMPS specifications while minimizing service latency and maximizing operational efficiency.
The OZ family of mobile messaging solutions, will be demonstrated in Hall 2, Stand F13 during the 3GSM World Congress tradeshow (February 13th - Feb 16th, 2006) in Barcelona, Spain.
