SIPquest Mobile Console Software Proven Interoperable With Nortel MCS 5100 and 5200 VoIP Servers; Enables VoIP Service in WiFi or Dual Mode WiFi & Cellular Environments
Business Wire, Feb 13, 2006
BARCELONA, Spain -- SIPquest today announced it has successfully completed interoperability testing with Nortel Multimedia Communications Server 5100 and 5200 VoIP systems, adding Nortel to its growing list of VoIP servers supported.
The successful conclusion of the stringent interoperability testing means that Nortel customers can now offer their subscribers WiFi or dual-mode mobile devices that operate in either GSM and CDMA environments. It also expands the scope of the SIPquest market coverage and provides carriers with the assurance of a proven solution necessary for volume deployment of these advanced services.
"SIPquest and Nortel have worked closely together for over a year to create mobile services for enterprise users," said David Hattey, president and CEO of SIPquest. "The SIPquest Mobile Console brings device independence to Nortel MCS customers and delivers personal command and control of communications to end users. Our list of supported devices and VoIP servers is constantly growing."
The SIPquest Mobile Console software runs on an emerging class of smartphones and PDAs that support Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 or Windows Mobile 5.0. Available for both WiFi devices and so-called dual mode WiFi and GSM or WiFi and CDMA devices, the Mobile Console delivers a uniform user experience regardless of network choice. It also supports a network aware capability that automatically selects the best network for communication or provides user control of network selection.
Today, the Mobile Console ships with "two networks, two number" reachability. The product has been demonstrated with leading mobility servers to enable single number reach and even seamless WiFi to cellular handoff.
