Accton Uses Trolltech's Qtopia for Embedded Peer-to-Peer Wi-Fi VoIP Phone; Global Provider of Telecommunications Solutions for Top Tier Vendors Uses Qtopia Technology for Its Range of Wi-Fi Enabled Devices

Business Wire, Feb 13, 2006

BARCELONA, Spain -- Trolltech(R), a leading provider of technologies that make advanced software faster to build and easier to use, today announced that its Qtopia(R) software for Linux-based embedded products is the application development platform for Accton Technology's range of Wi-Fi enabled devices.

Accton's first Qtopia-based device is the Wi-Fi VoIP phone, which goes into production in March. The new phone will make it possible for anyone with an Internet connection to make free, high-quality phone calls.

Accton's is the first global vendor to embed VoIP telephony technology into Linux devices, enabling consumers and business users to make use of free and low-cost calling options-without a PC.

The phone will begin shipping to Accton ODM partners in early Q2.

"We are honored that Accton selected Trolltech's Qtopia application platform for their Linux-based Internet phone," said Trolltech CEO Haavard Nord. "Linux is an ideal operating system for Accton's complex, full-featured devices, and Qtopia gives them a proven technology for developing customized, innovative applications and user interfaces for this platform."

"We're pleased to team with Trolltech to bring the benefits of PC-independent Internet telephony to users everywhere. Trolltech's Qtopia on Linux made it possible for us to create this spectacular new device in a period of just two months," said Ken Lu, Accton's Executive Vice President of Research and Development.

Both organizations will continue to work together in the future to deliver additional innovative mobile/Wi-Fi Linux devices.
