Black Duck Software's protexIP™ Suite Named a Finalist for SIIA's CODiE and CMP Media's Jolt Awards; Industry Honors Demonstrate Black Duck's Leadership in Software Compliance Management
Business Wire, Feb 13, 2006
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Black Duck Software, the leader in software compliance management, today announced that its protexIP(TM) suite has been named as a finalist for two prestigious industry awards. The Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) has selected Black Duck's protexIP suite as a finalist for its 2006 CODiE Award for Best Software Development Solution. Additionally, CMP Media has chosen protexIP as a finalist for its 2006 Jolt Award for Excellence in Quality Project Management.
The protexIP platform creates a new work environment that helps organizations effectively manage their increasingly complex software licensing issues. By validating software contents, verifying license compliance, and finding and addressing issues early in the development cycle - or well in advance of a due diligence event - the protexIP platform helps companies reduce business risks, complete software projects on time and on budget, and stay on track with their business plans.
"This industry recognition highlights the pressing need for automated code review and analysis technology inside major corporations and government agencies," said Douglas A. Levin, CEO of Black Duck Software. "It also underscores the fact that our protexIP platform is the solution of choice for organizations seeking enterprise-class software compliance management. We help companies leverage their software assets for greater competitive advantages through more effective intellectual property management."
Established in 1986, the CODiE Awards celebrates outstanding achievement and vision in the software, digital content and education technology industries. Through journalist and peer review, the CODiE Awards recognize 71 categories of outstanding products and services, as well as corporate excellence and philanthropy. This year's 348 finalists represent a wide array of technology and business excellence, passion and success. They were chosen from more that 1,026 nominations submitted by more than 500 companies.
"The 21st Annual CODiE Awards continue the tradition of honoring the best of the software, information and education technology industries," said Ken Wasch, SIIA President. "When one considers the number of outstanding companies that competed this year, being named a CODiE Awards Finalist is a significant achievement. The spirit of innovation is alive and well in the software development sector."
For the past 15 years, the Jolt Awards have been presented to showcase products that have "jolted" the industry with their significance and made the task of creating software faster, easier, and more efficient.
"Our twenty Jolt judges - leaders in the software development field - have selected 89 impressive finalists from hundreds of nominations," commented Software Development Technical Editor Rosalyn Lum. "The number of nominations we received this year was unprecedented and the process of narrowing down the finalists was a massive, albeit exciting, task, with many more products contending in each category. These products represent a cross section of the most ground-breaking tools for every phase of the software development lifecycle."
