URS Awarded Operations and Maintenance Contract by Virginia Department of Transportation; Contract Has Value of $22 Million to URS

SAN FRANCISCO -- URS Corporation (NYSE: URS) today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to provide operations and maintenance support to the Hampton Roads Smart Traffic Center in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. The contract, which the Company won through a re-competition, includes a three-year base period and two additional one-year option periods. The contract has a value to URS of $22 million over the initial three-year base period.
For 14 years URS has been the prime consultant supporting the Hampton Roads Smart Traffic Center, which monitors and manages local interstate traffic on a real-time basis. Under the terms of the newly awarded contract, URS will provide operations and maintenance services, including monitoring traffic conditions on more than 100 miles of freeway; coordinating emergency response activities; providing planning, design and engineering services for various expansion efforts at the Smart Traffic Center; managing and maintaining all of the Center's equipment and facilities; and performing inventory, management and other logistical services.
Commenting on the contract win, Gary V.
