Appian Experiences Record BPM Business Growth in 2005; Company Assumes Leadership Position in Business Process Management Suite Market; Customers Broadly Adopt Award-Winning Appian Enterprise
Business Wire, Feb 15, 2006
VIENNA, Va. -- Appian, the first Business Process Management (BPM) company to deliver advanced process, knowledge and analytics capabilities in a fully integrated suite, today announced that the company achieved record growth in 2005, posting a 171% increase in its BPM software licenses over 2004. The company also added 45 new customer projects, including a multi-million deal with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Further demonstrating its growth and momentum, the company continued to move forward with an aggressive partner strategy, adding 22 new commercial and federal partners.
"Appian's success and growth in 2005 demonstrates that our approach to BPM suites -- focusing on process, knowledge and analytics -- is ideal for enabling customers to build process-driven composite applications and solutions," said Matthew Calkins, President and CEO, Appian Corporation. "We've made significant advances in technology and outpaced our competition by leveraging the power and flexibility of the Appian Enterprise BPM Suite to build industry-specific solutions that address our customers' process-centric business challenges. The net result for customers is rapid deployment, decreased implementation costs, unparalleled flexibility and increased ROI."
In 2005, Appian customers improved productivity and enhanced competitive advantage by building and deploying collaborative, process-centric applications based on Appian's flagship BPM suite, Appian Enterprise. These BPM-based next generation applications are flexible, open and intelligent. They orchestrate business processes across existing enterprise application platforms such as ERP, coordinate human interactions in a scalable composite framework, increase process transparency and reduce IT complexity across the enterprise.
During the year, Appian introduced 12 new horizontal and vertically-focused solutions in the areas of sourcing and procurement, compliance, government, finance and human resources. Among these newly introduced offerings, Appian's Sarbanes-Oxley, Proposal Management, Sourcing Process Management, and Case Management solutions contributed substantially to Appian's 2005 growth.
Further demonstrating its leadership in the BPM market, Appian was one of three premier sponsors at Gartner's inaugural BPM Summit in June. As a premier sponsor, Appian hosted an interactive panel titled "Rapid Application Development: Using BPM Suites to Build Next-Generation, Process-Centric Applications" with partners and customers including, MorganFranklin, Rummler-Brache and Minter Ellison. During the standing-room only session, the panelists discussed how companies can leverage flexible, Web-based BPM suites with integrated process, knowledge and analytics functionality to build dynamic, process-driven composite applications.
Appian continued to receive accolades for technology and business leadership, having been named to KM World's 2005 "Top 100 Companies That Matter in Knowledge Management" list, and as one of the "Best Places to Work" in the Washington DC metro area by the Washington Business Journal.
