Winchester Systems Announces 24-Drive SATA Array With RAID 6 Data Protection; Supports up to 8 hosts and 12 terabytes in one enclosure
Business Wire, Feb 2, 2006
BURLINGTON, Mass. -- Winchester Systems, Inc., a leading data storage solutions company, today introduced a new SATA based RAID array that lowers the cost per gigabyte of RAID protected SATA storage while offering high reliability features such as N 1 power, enterprise class SATA disks and RAID 6 for added data protection.
"The SA-4500 features market leading performance. It supports up to 770 MBs per second for reads and 460 MBs per second writes. Now with 24 disks and up to 12 TBs available in a single 4U enclosure, our customers can capture and archive video streams, use it for web hosting applications supporting up to eight servers without a switch, or perform disk-to-disk backup operations or other applications that require high performance and high availability, at our lowest cost per gigabyte", stated Dave Geene, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Winchester Systems. "We support both SATA I and SATA II disk technology, including the new high duty cycle enterprise class disks from Western Digital" (NYSE: WDC)
The FlashDisk SA-4500 supports redundant 64-bit RAID controllers with dual Ultra320 SCSI host connectivity or up to eight Fibre Channel hosts and has high availability features including the new FlashDisk RAID 6 protection. The SA-4500 implements RAID 6 in hardware using a high speed XOR engine on a dedicated ASIC enabling FlashDisk SATA to maintain a RAID 5 level of performance with RAID 6 protection against multiple drive failures. Additional high availability features include redundant I/O modules, cooling, power supplies, and BBUs. Every FlashDisk data storage solution includes the FlashConsole appliance, providing complete centralized management using any browser-based workstation on the LAN. FlashAlert, a 24-hour "call-home" remote monitoring and alert service is also included for one year.
Pricing and Availability: Product is available within 3 weeks, with list pricing starting at under $30,000 MSRP.
