Business Wire, Feb 21, 2006

BOSTON -- Core Security Technologies, provider of CORE IMPACT, the first-to-market penetration testing product for assessing specific information security risks, today announced that its penetration testing product CORE IMPACT has won the SC Magazine Reader Trust Award for the Best Security Audit Product. Winners were announced Tuesday, February 14, at the SC Awards US ceremony at the Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, California, during the RSA Conference. This year represents the 9th year of SC Magazine's prestigious global awards program that recognizes the technical excellence in products that help organizations protect themselves from the security threats and vulnerabilities they face today.

The SC Magazine Award winners were selected by SC Magazine readers and the SC Magazine Award committee. This year there were over 1,300 nominees from over 330 companies for 9 major categories. "Year upon year the number of nominees increases, a trend I expect to continue. This time around the competition was fierce, so we extend our congratulations to all of our U.S. winners," said Illena Armstrong, Editor-in-Chief, SC Magazine.

"CORE IMPACT allows companies to comprehensively audit their IT infrastructure and determine the real exposure and risks to their network. Winning this award demonstrates the importance of penetration testing and the need for companies to continually test the security of their network," said Paul Paget, Core Security Technologies CEO. "Receiving this award from one of the industry's leading publications is an honor."

A security breach by a malicious hacker, virus or worm can cost an enterprise or organization millions of dollars in damages as well as incalculable harm to its reputation. By safely, efficiently and quickly identifying how vulnerable assets can be breached, CORE IMPACT gives security professionals the information they need to help them better secure their network. CORE IMPACT, which is now used by more than 300 organizations worldwide, enables network administrators to identify what resources are exposed and determine if their current security investments are successfully detecting and preventing attacks. With its flexible reporting tools, CORE IMPACT makes it easy to share penetration testing results with auditors to help satisfy compliance requirements.
