Colorado Technical University Names Robert Butler New Vice President of Technology Experienced; IT Leader to Head up University's Strategic IT Initiatives

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Colorado Technical University (CTU) has named Robert Butler as their new Vice President of Technology. Butler previously served as the Director of Information Technology at CTU, where he was responsible for maintaining the IT infrastructure for the Colorado Springs and Pueblo campuses. In Butler's new role, he will manage the technical operations of all six CTU campuses as well as set the University's strategic vision for the use and deployment of new technology.

"Robert Butler's leadership and contributions have played a key role in helping CTU drive quality-focused improvements that continue to enhance our information technology processes and security," said Marijane Paulsen, CEO of Colorado Technical University, who added that Butler will be instrumental in launching new technologies that will continue to position CTU as an industry leader in IT.

During Butler's tenure at CTU, the school has received numerous honors from the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA). In 2004, the ISSA recognized CTU as "Organization of the Year," and in 2005 CTU became the first institution ever to be recognized by the ISSA as a Center of Excellence for information security education.

Butler has an impressive background of experience comprising a diverse range of fields. He began his career nearly 20 years ago as a Systems Administrator, followed by several technology-related roles with companies in a variety of industry sectors. He also served as President and CEO of Abacus Data Systems, Inc. from 1995 to 2002.
