New Competition Announced for Project Management Return on Investment; George Washington University, Western Carolina University and Robbins-Gioia Launch Competition to Honor the Contributions of Project Managers

Business Wire, Feb 22, 2006

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Robbins-Gioia, LLC, the leading provider of program management services, today released a call for nominations for the first annual Gioia Award for Project Management Return on Investment (ROI). The competition will be open for nominations until April 10, 2006.

The competition seeks to clearly establish the positive link between professional project management techniques and greater ROI, and calls on project managers in all sectors to nominate their projects for consideration. The competition will honor both public and private sector projects and offers opportunities to present ROI in several different ways.

"One of the things we want to do with this competition," notes Robbins-Gioia executive vice president Pierre Monacelli, "is to help people to think of return on investment more creatively, not just in terms of balance sheets. This is especially important in the public sector or when the key factor in success is opportunity cost or cost avoidance."

According to Professor Homayoun Khamooshi of the George Washington University's Project Management Program, "There is no doubt that collecting data on the impact of project management on successful implementation of the projects could establish more than ever the necessity of the field and the rationale for its exponential growth."

An expert panel of judges drawn from academia and the business community will review nominated projects and select finalists and winners. The awards will be presented at a ceremony in Washington, DC in late spring. Nominations can be submitted at www.programmanagement.com/ROIaward. All organizations are encouraged to submit.
