Verio Launches Hosting Innovations, New Service Plans For Developers of Microsoft Windows Applications; Verio MultiSite hosting solution and new hosting plans provide new tools for developer community
Business Wire, Feb 23, 2006
CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- Verio Inc., a US-based subsidiary of NTT Communications Group and a leading provider of hosting and Internet services for small to midsized companies and partners, has announced an industry-leading hosting innovation for developers of Microsoft Windows applications with the launch of its MultiSite hosting solution. The company has also recently launched new hosting plans on the Windows Server 2003 platform.
Enhancements include the addition of MultiSite services to all shared hosting for Windows plans as well as Managed Server for Windows.
MultiSite provides the capability to split the resources of an account so that the account owner can manage multiple independent sites. This allows users the ability to perform individual stops and starts, view disk usage by site, and edit custom permissions - all with ease of managing just one account with Verio.
While some hosting providers offer the ability to point multiple domains to the same Web root, their servers view all of these sub-sites as part of the same site, which means users cannot do things like get independent traffic reports or turn off one site temporarily without also disabling all of their sites. Verio's new MultiSite service can deliver dozens of unique sites, all managed under one account, with the ability to view statistics by site, set front page extension settings by site, and turn on or off individual sites within the same plan. Clients have the ability to add or remove independent sites on the fly without having to purchase a new hosting account each time, as well as turn off individual sites if needed based on use of account resources without having to physically remove these sites from the Web root.
"Verio has demonstrated an innovative approach towards Web hosting on the Windows platform," said Pascal Martin, general manager of Worldwide Hosting at Microsoft Corp. "With offerings such as MultiSite, developers of applications for Windows can realize a number of benefits for their company and clients, including increased productivity, technical enhancements and greater cost efficiencies. Verio's innovations in this environment continue to enhance the Microsoft technologies they can deliver to developers and small-to-midsized business customers."
In addition to MultiSite capabilities, Verio has enhanced all of its hosting plans for Windows to make doing business on the Internet safe and easy for customers, whether they are still in the process of selecting a provider and hosting plan, are working to construct a site or add upgrades or simply manage an existing site. All plans now include a do it yourself tool for easy site construction, as well as the option to add ecommerce functionality to a site.
At the base level, Verio's Starter Plan for Windows offers customers an easy way to get an online business up and running, with one or two Windows-based Web sites at an affordable cost. For more advanced capabilities, customers can choose from the MultiSite for Windows plan, with the ability to host up to 10 unique sites, or the eStorefront for Windows plan, which enables users to build an ecommerce site or add commerce functionality to an existing site, complete with email marketing capabilities. Customers with complex needs may opt for the Hosting on Microsoft SQL plan, for access to a 200 MB Microsoft SQL Server database, or the Webmaster for Windows plan, leveraging the power of MultiSite functionality by providing businesses with the ability to have up to 30 independent Web sites.
"With the launch of these innovative hosting solutions for Windows, Verio is again showing its commitment to this popular development and hosting environment, as well as to developers of Windows applications who build and maintain Web sites for their business customers," said Dennis Boyle, chief operating officer for Verio. "As a leader in hosting on Windows, Verio will continue to deliver solutions with the reliability, performance and security that users demand, and the flexibility that developers need, making us the obvious partner of choice for developers of Windows applications."
Verio will continue to develop and launch additional enhancements to its MultiSite offerings.
