Mortgage Cadence to Support Oracle Database Platform; Leading ELS Will Operate on Both Oracle and Microsoft Database Platforms
Business Wire, Feb 27, 2006
SAN DIEGO -- Denver-based Mortgage Cadence, a leading provider of enterprise lending solutions (ELS), announces the strategic initiative to offer its lending platform on the Oracle Database 10g. Following the recent announcement of their ASP offering for small and mid-sized lenders, Mortgage Cadence's support for the additional database platform will continue to expand its technological reach into the financial institutions that have standardized on Oracle.
"With Oracle governing over 40% of the worldwide database market according to IDC statistics, it's hard to neglect supporting the platform," stated Mike Detwiler, CEO of Mortgage Cadence. "We have been, and we will continue to support Microsoft SQL Server, but we feel it is necessary in maximizing our product's scope to offer our clients the choice between databases."

By offering its lending solution on both the Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database platforms, Mortgage Cadence increases its extensibility and guarantees stronger market penetration. Since there are many mortgage lending companies that have dedicated their resources, be it hardware, software, financial or employees, to an Oracle platform, they are normally not interested in or aren't able to easily move to a new database platform. For that reason, Mortgage Cadence has chosen to support Oracle and its ever expanding client base by giving them this option.
"Mortgage Cadence's n-tiered architecture confines business services to the business-tier and strictly adheres to layered design pattern and ANSI SQL standards. Thus the decision to support Oracle does not require a major effort," explained Pankaj Chawla, vice president of product development for Mortgage Cadence. "The effort is limited to upgrading the Mortgage Cadence's Data Access Layer to be aware of both Oracle and SQL Server. The end result will be one source code repository that runs against both SQL Server and Oracle. Having one source minimizes maintenance and maximizes reusability."
