SingTel Deploys Action Engine to Drive Wireless Phone Sales; Customers Gain Immediate Access to eBay, Weather and News with Purchase of New Device
Business Wire, Feb 7, 2006
BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Shattering the mobile usability barrier, Action Engine(R) Corporation, the mobile application platform leader, today announced that SingTel, Asia's leading telecommunications group, is offering Action Engine's Action Info(TM) mobile applications pack to wireless consumers as a value-added service when they purchase a new mobile device.
"Wireless operators realize that they can create an immediate strategic advantage by packaging content-rich applications with their new device launches," said Jim Souders, vice president of North America and Asia Pacific at Action Engine. "The simple fact is that increasing customer satisfaction is the key to unlocking data services revenues, and Action Engine applications deliver the type of speed and ease-of-use that keeps consumers coming back for more. We look forward to bringing these benefits to SingTel and its customers."
The Action Info SingTel pack includes a suite of three applications: eBay, weather and news, which consumers will receive free of charge when they purchase a new O2 XDA II mini device at SingTel retail stores in Singapore. The applications are distributed on a memory card that can be immediately inserted into the phone to activate the services. Applications running in the Action Info pack allow consumers to search for and discover content from eBay, Accuweather.com and the Associated Press using 80% less keystrokes and delivering 20x faster response times than with a mobile browser.
The Action Info software gives SingTel customers the ability to create mobile search requests with just a few clicks and review the results offline. Easy-to-use question and answer screens help customers narrow their search criteria, giving them a fast way to find and use information. The technology was designed to place customer usability needs first, while allowing operators, like SingTel, to showcase the innovative services that are possible on the newest mobile phones.
