New Industry Study Predicts $50 Billion Semantic Technology Market, with Far-Reaching Impacts on Information and Communications Technology Industries
Business Wire, Jan 11, 2006
WASHINGTON -- Project10X announces publication of a comprehensive new study of semantic technologies and their impact on information and communication technology markets. This report, entitled Semantic Wave 2006, will be featured in a keynote presentation by Mills Davis at the Semantic Technology Conference, March 6-9, 2006 in San Jose, California. The study is being published in two parts:
--Part-1: Executive Guide to Billion Dollar Markets (50-pages, 22 figures) -- is a quick guide for executives to semantic technologies and market opportunities. It defines semantic technologies and the new capabilities they deliver. It explains how this new paradigm solves issues of complexity, scale, and cost leading to breakthroughs in net-centric infrastructure, knowledge work automation, and systems that know what they're doing. It overviews the structure, size and growth of semantic wave markets.
Part-1 is available now as a free download at
www.semantic-conference.com.
--Part-2: Industry Roadmap for Net-centric Semantic Infrastructure, Knowledge Work Automation, and Systems that Know (200 pages, 50 figures) -- provides a detailed examination of markets, technologies, standards, buyers, suppliers, applications, industry sectors, early adopter case examples. Part-2 assessments are intended to help executives and technologists plan new products, services, and solutions.
Part-2 is scheduled for publication in Spring 2006. Ordering
information is included with Part-1.
According to Mills Davis, Managing Director of Project10X, "The semantic wave is a fundamental shift in paradigm, technology and economics. This reorganization of information and communications technology (ICT) and markets is as profound as the transition from Newtonian physics to the world of relativity and quantum mechanics. All aspects of ICT will be affected by semantic technologies. Scale, complexity, capability, and performance requirements make this inevitable.
"Semantic wave R&D, products and services will accelerate ten-fold from 2005 to 2010 to more than $50B worldwide. Near-term drivers include 2-10X gains in performance for net-centric infrastructure and information-intensive processes across a broad range of applications and domains. Longer-term drivers are new capabilities for knowledge-intensive activities, tasks, and processes and smart system behaviors that will deliver performance gains up to 100-fold."
