Quest Software Enhances Security and Helps Meet Audit Requirements with Quest InTrust for Active Directory; New Version Offers Enhanced Change Tracking of Active Directory and Group Policy Objects
Business Wire, Jan 17, 2006
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and infrastructure management solutions, today announced the general availability of version 2.0 of Quest InTrust for Active Directory. The product enhances system security by automating the collection of event log data on Active Directory domain controllers, analyzing and reporting on system events and directory changes, and then archiving the data in an efficient and manageable way for future audits.
InTrust for Active Directory audits all activity on domain controllers, including changes to Active Directory objects and Group Policy settings. This new version includes the ability to track and prevent object creation, movement and renaming as well.
"InTrust for Active Directory provides us with 24/7 alerting and has removed the pain we were experiencing when providing audit reports for our clients' compliance requirements," said Alan Carse, manager, Infrastructure Development and Delivery, Mercer Human Resource Consulting. "We have been able to empower Mercer's security team to produce compliance reports, saving the IS department weeks of time." Mercer Human Resource Consulting is a leader for HR and related financial advice, products and services.
"Organizations are constantly trying to find solutions that will enhance security and help them meet internal and external compliance standards for their IT environments," said Jackson Shaw, senior director of product management for Active Directory and Integration Solutions, Quest Software. "InTrust for Active Directory, part of Quest's broad compliance offering, helps ensure that these standards are met. At the same time, the product enhances operational efficiency by detecting unwanted activity and changes in Active Directory."
New features in InTrust for Active Directory 2.0 include:
--Audit object creation - A single event is audited for every new object that is created in Active Directory, including who created the objects and where they were created.
--Define protected objects - Administrators can make rules to protect the creation of unwanted objects and prevent objects from being moved between organizational units or deleted.
--Track FSMO roles - Change events are created when Flexible Single Master Operations (FSMO) roles are transferred, allowing administrators to track when these critical roles in Active Directory change hands.
--Enhanced reports and real-time rules - New out-of-the-box reports and real-time rules are included such as changes to schema and site configuration, changes to audit policy settings and reporting on domain controllers that are not being monitored.
