Gordon & Glickson Merges With McGuireWoods
Business Wire, Jan 19, 2006
CHICAGO -- McGuireWoods LLP, one of the 100 largest law firms in the world, and Chicago-based law firm Gordon & Glickson LLC, internationally known for its information technology practice, jointly announced plans today to merge and form a new Technology & Business department within McGuireWoods after the merger is complete.
"Gordon & Glickson has been exclusively devoted to providing strategic legal counsel to the technology markets for more than a quarter of a century," said Robert L. Burrus, Jr., chairman of McGuireWoods. "This is a terrific opportunity to both expand our Chicago office and our technology and business practice nationally, which will be headed by Mark L. Gordon. We believe this merger will derive strong synergies and provide multiple opportunities for our joint clients."
In the late 1970s, Gordon & Glickson decided to narrow its focus exclusively to serving the technology markets. More than two decades later, Gordon & Glickson remains a leader in advising clients in the technology-based sectors, as well as in providing legal counsel on technology-related issues to clients in all other industries and to governments and not-for-profit organizations.
"This merger with McGuireWoods makes tremendous sense," said Mark L. Gordon, managing partner of Gordon & Glickson. "These are the right people at the right time, and the merger is for the right reasons - to better serve our clients, the marketplace, and our people."
"McGuireWoods already has a strong legal practice in many of the areas in which Gordon & Glickson has traditionally focused." Scott L. Glickson, a partner at Gordon & Glickson, said, "Our complementary range of experience will greatly benefit all of our clients."
McGuireWoods LLP is a full-service law firm with approximately 750 lawyers in 15 offices in the United States, Europe and Central Asia, providing legal counsel to clients around the world. For more information, visit www.mcguirewoods.com.
