Concurrent and Novell to Offer Real-Time Computing Solution Powered By SUSE Linux

DULUTH, Ga. -- New Professional Services Offerings to Support High Performance Extensions to the SUSE Linux Operating System for Financial, Telecommunications and Government Applications
Concurrent (NASDAQ: CCUR), a leading provider of integrated computer solutions for mission-critical applications, today announced a partnership with Novell to jointly sell and support Concurrent Real-Time Extensions Powered By SUSE Linux, a specialized Linux offering based on Novell's popular SUSE Linux operating system, designed specifically for real-time computing needs. Concurrent Real-Time Extensions enable businesses to reap the benefits of Linux and open source for complex real-time applications. Initial targets for the solution include trading floor and market data servers in financial services as well as enterprise data centers with time-critical requirements in industries such as telecommunications and government.
Concurrent Real-Time Extensions are backed by professional services and technical support from both Concurrent and Novell. It will uniquely provide enhanced, quality-of-service for applications that need guaranteed response to external events, deterministic program execution times and low latency communication.

As reciprocal members of Novell's PartnerNet and Concurrent's Channel Partner program, the companies will combine sales efforts to target end-user companies and Independent Software Vendors developing applications for this advanced Linux offering. Novell also intends to sell Concurrent's comprehensive NightStar development toolset, which supports debugging of distributed real-time applications.

Concurrent Real-Time Extensions offer support for 32-bit and 64-bit processor architectures (Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron), guaranteed interrupt response time of less than 30 microseconds, high-resolution timer support for enhanced scheduling, user-level control of hyperthreading, and processor shielding, all within a single programming environment API. Concurrent's proven real-time technology eliminates spikes in latency ensuring consistent performance and stability.
