USATODAY.com Selects FeedBurner to Manage and Measure RSS Subscription Growth
Business Wire, Jan 24, 2006
CHICAGO -- The Gannett Co.-owned Web site will utilize FeedFoundry, FeedBurner's newly introduced bulk feed management service, to gather information about subscription-related activities
USATODAY.com, one of the nation's leading news and information sources, is utilizing FeedBurner, the leading feed management provider, to manage more than 100 subscription feeds currently offered on the popular Web site. USATODAY.com offers subscriptions for a variety of feeds within its News, Money, Sports, Life, Technology, Weather and Travel categories, as well as additional feeds for its columnists.
Also today, FeedBurner launched FeedFoundry, its newest subscription service tailored to managing large numbers of feeds for major publishers. USATODAY.com will use FeedFoundry to track readership over time and across categories, traffic sources, and advertising performance for all active campaigns.
"Making USATODAY.com content available in RSS format was an easy decision, but finding an efficient tool for tracking subscriptions to this content, clickthrough activity and item popularity was decidedly more challenging," said Adriaan Bouten, Vice President of Technology and Business Development at USATODAY.com. "FeedFoundry gives us a level of insight that is critical to determine which of our properties are performing best and we can make more informed business decisions as a result. Having access to this crucial information is just one more step along the path of better understanding and engaging our audience."
FeedFoundry provides mass feed importing, management and analysis. The service was built for commercial publishers and content providers with large numbers of feeds, potentially across multiple properties. FeedFoundry's advanced reporting capability allows publishers to group sets of feeds and identify trends, activate services in bulk, maintain performance history and design custom reports, specific to each company's priorities, using a standard dashboard.
"We recognized a need to add enterprise-caliber management services for large publishers," said Steve Olechowski, a co-founder and chief operating officer of FeedBurner. "USATODAY.com's enthusiastic and long-standing support of FeedFoundry will ensure that the service is used in a mission-critical, large-scale publishing environment, and USATODAY.com staff will help us rapidly innovate on the FeedFoundry product suite."
FeedFoundry is available now by contacting FeedBurner's Business Development team at www.feedburner.com/getfoundry.
