Business Wire, Jan 25, 2006
SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Panasonic Computer Solutions Company today announced that Miami-Dade Police Department will outfit its officers with fully rugged Panasonic(R) Toughbook(R) CF-29 notebook computers.
Miami-Dade Police Department is charged with the safety of approximately two million citizens who live within a 2,109 square mile area. In order to accomplish this formidable task, it utilizes the services of approximately 2,900 sworn officers and 1,700 support personnel.

The CF-29 notebooks to be deployed include embedded wide area wireless access on the Cingular EDGE network as well as integrated GPS solutions.
The department has been using semi-rugged notebooks from Panasonic since 2002 and will redeploy these units to its investigative team as it moves its uniformed force to fully rugged solutions.

"We are honored to be able to count MDPD among the thousands of police departments who depend on products and services from Panasonic."
