Classworks Earns Recognition as Finalist for 2006 SIIA CODiE Awards
Business Wire, Jan 27, 2006
ATLANTA -- Curriculum Advantage, Inc. announced today that it was named a finalist in the 2006 CODiE Awards, an awards program established by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) to recognize innovative products, services, and companies. Classworks was selected as a finalist in the Best Instructional Solution: Language Arts/Reading - Elementary category.
The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) established the CODiE Awards in 1986 and it is the longest-running awards program in the software and information industry. The program acknowledges the industry's most innovative products and services. More than 1,000 nominations were submitted for the 2006 awards (http://www.siia.net/codies/2006/finalists.asp), which were evaluated by a broad panel of judges consisting of software trade journalists, mainstream technology writers and experts in educational technology. The award is highly regarded by educators and industry experts.
Curriculum Advantage publishes Classworks (www.curriculumadvantage.com), which is a network-based solution of reading and mathematics curriculum used in K-12. Classworks includes 10,000 learning activities from dozens of award-winning educational software programs, all of which are correlated with National Education Standards. Classworks State Editions are further aligned to the learning standards and test objectives of 21 states so that teachers can more closely tie their teaching to the core concepts and competencies prescribed by their state.
Additional content specifically designed for English as a second language (ESL) and Limited English Proficient (LEP) students is incorporated to facilitate mastery of the English Language. Classworks' Language Learner Series is a fully interactive, research-based literacy software solution that teaches English reading, speaking, and writing from non-reading through fluency, using a multi-sensory approach that engages all students. Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Haitian-Creole language options are available, and the scaffolded instruction includes several levels of prompting for extra help, enabling students to work independently on targeted instruction based on their level of need.
"Curriculum Advantage has focused on building Classworks into a premier Reading and Language Arts product for the education marketplace. This recognition by our peers and the continued success we've seen with educators in districts around the country has been extremely gratifying," said Mr. Lindsey Cook, CEO of Curriculum Advantage.
Classworks is a recognized reading resource meeting the goals of Title Programs and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). Classworks is also aligned with the five key components of reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension, as defined by the National Institute for Literacy and the Partnership for Reading.
