Business Wire, Jan 31, 2006
HERNDON, Va. -- Deltek, the leading enterprise software provider for project-based businesses, announced today that research firm IDC has published a competitive analysis report recognizing Deltek as the leader in the "Project ERP" segment of the Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) market. Titled "Worldwide PPM 2004 Vendor Shares and Market Analysis," this report defines the PPM market to contain a Project ERP segment that included bundled ERP offerings for companies in project-driven industries. IDC identifies Deltek as "far and away the leader" in the Project ERP segment.

"Deltek has prospered by introducing the Project ERP concept and has built-out, through acquisition and its own R&D, a full suite for 'project-based industries' that has driven its business to record heights," said Evan Quinn GVP of Application at IDC and author of the study. "Deltek's reputation and unique approach makes them a difficult chase for any of the PPM competitors."
Project ERP, the sophisticated front and back office applications that integrate seamlessly with PPM, is gaining significant traction, allowing businesses to optimize their resources while measuring and comparing the performance of projects across the entire enterprise.
"This report confirms Deltek's place as the undisputed leader in the Project ERP software market and differentiates between the complex requirements of project-based businesses and more generic needs of traditional organizations -- a fundamental distinction that Deltek's software has been built upon for more than 20 years," said Kevin Parker, president and CEO of Deltek. "Leveraging our decades of expertise in project-based vertical markets, we will continue to develop specialized enterprise software solutions that more than 11,000 customers have come to rely upon."
This study also characterizes the strong growth of the PPM market in 2005, while also forecasting that this forward momentum will continue in 2006. As the leader in the Project ERP space, IDC cites Deltek's continued success in the sector as an elemental indicator of the health of the segment.
