The QAS intranet fought off stiff competition from more than 600 other entrants to win the 2005 award. iQ was selected as winner because of the clear benefits it provides across the organisation in terms of collaboration, teamwork and enhanced business decision-making. The intranet alone is estimated to save QAS more than GBP 100k annually because online workflow has replaced many paper-based processes. iQ also was named a finalist in the "Intranet" and "Content Management" categories.
QAS staff contribute and consume business-critical knowledge via iQ's content management integration with Stellent's user-friendly technology. Back-office systems, such as SelectHR, Siebel and SUN Finance, are integrated and leveraged to deliver business process management applications such as Purchase Ordering, Sales Proposal Building, Holiday Forms and Project Scheduling. At the heart of the QAS intranet lies an extensive framework based on industry best practices and patterns driven by low-cost open-source software, allowing developers to respond to business requirements rapidly and effectively.
The QAS intranet is a J2EE enterprise Web application. It delivers value through broadcasting, knowledge management, content management and business support applications through a single, integrated user interface. Tangible and calculated return-on-investment (ROI) is delivered across the worldwide organisation through the application and integration of innovative and intuitive technology solutions.
David Macey, executive vice president for international sales at Stellent, said of the win, "We are pleased to have won this award with QAS; it is fantastic to see such an innovative and effective site get the recognition it deserves. Stellent delivers industry-leading content management solutions, and successes such as this one go a long way in showing other businesses exactly what is possible with the right technology partner in place."
Harjinder Burrha, group technical director at QAS, added, "iQ has had a very positive impact on the way QAS works, delivering benefits across the business far beyond its original remit. Winning the 'Knowledge Management Award' at IM2005 really is the icing on the cake."
