HomePNA Expands Membership with New Companies and the Addition of Scientific-Atlanta to the Board; Momentum Grows as Alliance Adds Leading IP TV Set-Top Box, Broadband Modem and Multimedia Home Networking Manufacturers
Business Wire, Jan 4, 2006
LAS VEGAS & SAN RAMON, Calif. -- Today at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the HomePNA alliance announced the addition of Entone, Tatung, Amino, and TII Networks as new members and the appointment of Scientific- Atlanta to the Board of Directors. The new members include industry leaders in facilitating the delivery of IP enabled entertainment services including home networking, broadband modem and routers and IP Set Top Boxes.
HomePNA 3.0 technology, which was standardized by the ITU in May 2005, is a technology option for in-home distribution of new triple-play services such as IPTV. Its unique blend of high speed, robust performance, low cost, guaranteed QoS, and the ability to operate simultaneously over both phonelines and coax cables make it uniquely suited to the needs of service providers.
"Our inclusion on the HPNA board of directors furthers Scientific-Atlanta's longstanding support for developing and implementing industry standards for IP-based services," said Himanshu Parikh, vice president and general manager, IP Subscriber Networks business at Scientific-Atlanta. "In addition, we see this as an opportunity to expand our relationships with other vendors and service providers to launch a multitude of interactive video services for consumers using an open architecture."
