Dolby Brings High-Quality Surround Sound to Intel Viiv Technology Platforms; Integra's Integrated Media Center Supports Intel Viiv Technology; Intel and MSI Motherboards to Feature Dolby PC Entertainment Experience
Business Wire, Jan 6, 2006
LAS VEGAS -- Dolby Laboratories (NYSE:DLB) announced today that several new products based on Intel(R) Viiv(TM) technology support Dolby Laboratories' surround sound technologies. Integra's first PC product, the Integrated Media Center, with support for the Intel Viiv technology, and the Ace Computers LHS IIHD Limited Media Server, based on an Intel motherboard, are the industry's first two Intel Viiv technology-based systems to feature Dolby(R) Master Studio(TM) technologies. Intel has also unveiled three new motherboards and MSI has launched one new board approved for the Dolby PC Entertainment Experience.
Integra's Integrated Media Center resembles a living room A/V component and fits easily into a home entertainment system. The Ace Computers LHS IIHD Limited Media Server is being launched at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show. Both systems feature the Dolby Master Studio suite of technologies, including Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital Live, Dolby Pro Logic(R) IIx, Dolby Headphone, and Dolby Virtual Speaker, with support for up to 7.1 channels of surround sound. These technologies combine advanced audio rendering with flexible controls and powerful digital signal processing to give consumers a tailored listening experience.
"Platforms based on our new Intel Viiv technology will be instrumental in delivering a great digital entertainment experience in the home," said Gerald Holzhammer, Vice President of the Digital Home Group and General Manager of the Consumer Client Group for Intel Corporation. "Intel looks forward to our continued collaboration with Dolby and its PC Entertainment Experience initiative in delivering entertainment platforms that support the most advanced surround sound technology for PCs available."
Intel unveiled two motherboards approved for the Dolby PC Entertainment Experience that meet Dolby Home Theater(TM) requirements: Intel's D945GBO and D945GPM desktop boards. PCs built with motherboards designed for Dolby Home Theater can deliver a home theater surround sound experience. Intel also introduced a third motherboard--the Intel D975XBX desktop board--that supports the Dolby Master Studio requirements, which assures delivery of the ultimate Dolby audio presentation capabilities for PCs. MSI's new motherboard, the 975X Platinum, supports Intel Viiv technology and also meets the Designed for Dolby Master Studio standards.
"Dolby is focused on extending the CE sound experience to the PC, which is evolving into a key digital entertainment platform," said Greg Rodehau, Director, PC Business Unit, Dolby Laboratories. "The Intel Viiv platform will help deliver on this vision. Consumers can now enjoy a digital home experience, including a high-quality audio experience from Dolby."
